Unit 1 – That’s Greek to Me!
Students learn the history and style of Greek theatre, with a particular focus on the Greek chorus. Through drama exercises and activities, students learn the techniques of a Greek chorus and also learn how to structure a Greek tragedy. For the unit-end assessment, students write their own Greek tragedies; these performances must incorporate chorus skills and focus on the downfall of a tragic hero.
Unit 2 – Behind the Mask
This unit explores the concept of inner and outer persona and how we conceal and reveal our identities in different situations. Using mask performance skills, students must create a short piece that shows both the private and public personas of the characters they are portraying.
